Barnes is active in his community and is a member of the President’s Leadership Council of Rollins College as well as a trustee at Mayflower Retirement Center in Winter Park. He is a Director and past President of the University of Central Florida Foundation. Barnes is a past Chairman of the Winter Park Memorial Hospital, the Winter Park Health Foundation, the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, the Winter Park Economic Development Advisory Board and the Winter Park Facilities Advisory Board. Barnes is married to Diana Barnes, and has four children and five grandchildren. He enjoys traveling, boating, hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. |
James T. Barnes, Jr. has served as Chairman of the Board of BankFIRST since 1997. A graduate of the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard OPM program, Barnes has been actively involved in commercial banking, mortgage banking and the insurance industries, both in Michigan and Florida, and is a past President of the Michigan Mortgage Banking Association.
